At level 30 we get a fancy new spell called Totemic Call, which destroys all active totems and returns 25% of the mana spent on them. I use this spell so much that I have it bound to the Y key.Now here comes the rant part of the post: I've seen lots of Shaman who, for some reason, just leave their totems behind and/or let them die a natural death. There are several problems with this: totems aggro patrolling/re-spawning mobs, you lose out on free mana, and it's just plain messy.

Not sure if this is new or not but have noticed that we have a totem timer up by our bars in top left corner, and you can click on each of the totems that are live to "dispell" them. I use this mostly for getting rid of searing totem when I am in a high population area so I can use it for the mob I want and not have it pull extras on me.
Yup yup, dispelling those fire totems individually can be situationally very helpful too (you just don't gain any mana from it). Thanks for mentioning it. :)
For some reason this reminded me of the other day when I good friend and I were on lowbie alts playing together. Her main is a shaman and she started freaking out when the lowbie shaman we were grouped with wasn't recalling his totems (presumably because he didn't know the spell yet). "OMG I WANT TO RECALL THESE TOTEMS SO BAD YOU GUYS! THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!" Heehee =P
